Synthetic Growth Defect
A genetic interaction is inferred when mutations in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, result in a significant growth defect under a given condition when combined in the same cell.

Systematic mutational analysis of the intracellular regions of yeast gap1 permease.
The yeast general amino acid permease Gap1 is a convenient model for studying the intracellular trafficking of membrane proteins. Present at the plasma membrane when the nitrogen source is poor, it undergoes ubiquitin-dependent endocytosis and degradation upon addition of a good nitrogen source, e.g., ammonium. It comprises 12 transmembrane domains (TM) flanked by cytosol-facing N- and C-terminal tails (NT, CT). ... [more]
Throughput
- Low Throughput
Ontology Terms
- phenotype: vegetative growth (APO:0000106)
- phenotype: utilization of nitrogen source (APO:0000099)
Additional Notes
- double mutants show a lack of growth on media containing a single amino acid as sole nitrogen source
