Biochemical Activity (Phosphorylation)
An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

The tumor suppressor Lats2 is pivotal in Aurora A and Aurora B signaling during mitosis.
Accurate coordination between chromosome segregation and cytokinesis by various mitotic kinases, such as Aurora, prevent tetraploidization and subsequent tumorigensis. The tumor suppressors Lats1 and Lats2 are serine/threonine kinases that localize to the centrosome and regulate cell cycle progression and apoptosis. In the present study, Aurora A was demonstrated to phosphorylate Lats2 on serine 380 (S380) during mitosis. Immunocytochemical observations revealed that ... [more]
