BAIT

CDC5

MSD2, PKX2, polo kinase CDC5, L000000245, YMR001C
Polo-like kinase; controls targeting and activation of Rho1p at cell division site via Rholp guanine nucleotide exchange factors; regulates Spc72p; also functions in adaptation to DNA damage during meiosis; has similarity to Xenopus Plx1 and S. pombe Plo1p; possible Cdc28p substrate
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

REC8

SPO69, L000004667, YPR007C
Meiosis-specific component of sister chromatid cohesion complex; maintains cohesion between sister chromatids during meiosis I; maintains cohesion between centromeres of sister chromatids until meiosis II; independent of its role in sister chromatid cohesion, Rec8p promotes allelic collisions and prevents nonspecific chromosome interactions; homolog of S. pombe Rec8p
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Biochemical Activity (Phosphorylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

Chromosome morphogenesis: condensin-dependent cohesin removal during meiosis.

Yu HG, Koshland D

During meiosis, segregation of homologous chromosomes necessitates the coordination of sister chromatid cohesion, chromosome condensation, and recombination. Cohesion and condensation require the SMC complexes, cohesin and condensin, respectively. Here we use budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae to show that condensin and Cdc5, a Polo-like kinase, facilitate the removal of cohesin from chromosomes prior to the onset of anaphase I when homologs ... Co-localization

Interaction inferred from two proteins that co-localize in the cell by indirect immunofluorescence only when in addition, if one gene is deleted, the other protein becomes mis-localized. Also includes co-dependent association of proteins with promoter DNA in chromatin immunoprecipitation experiments.
