Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Dual apoptotic DNA fragmentation system in the fly: Drep2 is a novel nuclease of which activity is inhibited by Drep3.

Park OK, Park HH

DNA fragmentation is the hallmark of apoptotic cells and mainly mediated by the DNA fragmentation factor DFF40(CAD)/DFF45(ICAD). DFF40 is a novel nuclease, whereas DFF45 is an inhibitor that can suppress the nuclease activity. Apoptotic DNA fragmentation in the fly is controlled by four DFF-related proteins, known as Drep1, 2, 3 and 4. However, the functions of Drep2 and Drep3 are ... [more]
