NUP116

NSP116, FG-nucleoporin NUP116, L000001293, YMR047C
FG-nucleoporin component of central core of the nuclear pore complex; contributes directly to nucleocytoplasmic transport and maintenance of the nuclear pore complex (NPC) permeability barrier; forms a stable association with Nup82p, Gle2p and two other FG-nucleoporins (Nsp1p and Nup159p); NUP116 has a paralog, NUP100, that arose from the whole genome duplication
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

NUP170

NLE3, L000001256, L000003140, YBL079W
Subunit of the inner ring of the nuclear pore complex (NPC); contributes to NPC assembly and nucleocytoplasmic transport; both Nup170p and NUP157p are similar to human Nup155p; NUP170 has a paralog, NUP157, that arose from the whole genome duplication
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) are ∼100 MDa transport channels assembled from multiple copies of ∼30 nucleoporins (Nups). One-third of these Nups contain phenylalanine-glycine (FG)-rich repeats, forming a diffusion barrier, which is selectively permeable for nuclear transport receptors that interact with these repeats. Here, we identify an additional function of FG repeats in the structure and biogenesis of the yeast NPC. ... [more]

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.
